<div style="text-align: center;">
This past weekend I had the privilege yet again to travel
outside the Kathmandu valley to another quaint village setting. At the
invitation of a sister from our church, another brother and I went to preach the Gospel. What I
experienced was not necessarily new, but was a stern reminder of the
spiritual needs we face here in this beautiful country.</div>

First I must mention that I feel like the most blessed
person in the world to live in this part of Asia. Our family moved here about
two and a half years ago. We have labored to learn the Nepali language and
observe the culture in this foreign land. We have made many friends and have had many exciting adventures.We also have had our share of challenges, yet we count it a privilege to shine our lights in this spiritually dark and oppressed area. We are reminded that it is only Christ who is able to transform lives, yet we must remain committed to faithfully preaching the truth without compromise…even if we don't see immediate results. Many cults and Pentecostals have been busy influencing numerous villages throughout the country. This past weekend, this reality was made real to me firsthand. Over two hours later, we arrived at a
little adobe structure where we had tea and chatted with the family of our

still totally illiterate. However we met a twelve
year-old girl who is studying at an English medium school nearby, but is the only one that
we met that understood even a little English. We were able to easily communicate with
everyone we met through Nepali - the national language. <o:p></o:p></div>

has been living in this village for two months. He noted how difficult it was

We had a Gospel meeting where we sang a few songs, prayed, gave
some encouraging Bible verses and a Gospel message to the few family members in
attendance, along with some neighbors. Others reportedly did not come for fear
of the repercussion from their family members and other peers. Many people are
scared of Christians and of this new God and Saviour Jesus Christ! One young lady who did come, told us about her father-in-law who wanted to attend but was very sick. We were told he was interested in being a Christian, so we went to visit him at his home.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There is a misconcep<span style="color: #444444;"><span style="color: #444444;">tion about Christianity in Nepal, and we wanted to</span></span> be very clear and thorough in how we presented Christ. Many only know of Jesus' power to heal, and this is their motive for wanting to be a “Christian”. They are interested in the personal benefits of this new religion but have not been confronted with their sinfulness against a holy God. When we explained the purpose of the Gospel,
our friend said this was the first time he had heard this message! He said he was
willing to stop beating his wife and be a Christian even if God didn’t heal him. We dug a little deeper with questions and asked if he admitted that he was
a sinner. He was still confused and said, "What is a sinner?" So at this point, we gave
him some helpful resources that taught about Creation and the need for Christ to
save from sin. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
During this time, we also observed a song book and Bibles on
a table. The man's wife claimed to be a Christian because of a baptism experience.
Our Christian sister pointed out to her that Salvation is through repentance and faith in Christ alone. She had yet to renounce her Hindu gods – which were on a picture hanging
outside her hut – and place her faith entirely in Jesus Christ as her only Lord God. We prayed with this precious family and left, assuring that we would return again. <o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Yet, we must go back - and soon! For just two
years ago, a cult by the name of “Truth” has come and started a “church” in
this village. About five families have already joined. They teach that as long
as the people come to their weekly service and “believe in Jesus”, they can
still continue to worship their false idols. This heretical syncretism is very deceptive and dangerous. Unfortunately, as our sister pointed out,
they have gotten to this village before true Bible preachers have.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Though we look forward to returning to this village to water
the seeds sown, I am reminded that this is merely a microcosm of a country
filled with thousands of villages in a similar state. Satan has used false
religion to keep people in darkness for centuries, and now is using deceivers
and false teachers who use the name of Christ to keep people from coming to the
light. Please pray as we rightly divide the Word of God and teach the Truth in
love. We must not stray from that which the Holy Spirit is seeking to reprove
and convince the world of: sin, righteousness, and judgment. The
Gospel is still powerful and Jesus still saves! <o:p></o:p></div>

For the last two years I was dead set against buying a scooter and especially bringing the family on one.<br />
<br />
And then Luke bought a motorcycle. I began riding with him almost everyday to our language class and after the first few weeks I got used to the way the traffic moves and flows on a bike.<br />
<br />
I started to really enjoy the freedom of not relying on a taxi. At our old house the area is more concentrated so you could easily walk anywhere you needed to go in a matter of minutes.<br />
<br />
We made the decision to move and I quickly found it was much more difficult to get around. To go to simple places it would cost us $7 each direction. I started considering a scooter more and more.<br />
<br />
I spent a lot of time in prayer and consulting with others who have scooters. God gave Luke peace about he situation and the Lord showed me a verse that brought peace.<br />
<br />
"The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord."<br />
Proverbs 21:31<br />
<br />
I could prepare all I wanted to, but safety is ultimately up to God.<br />

We bought the scooter. I've had it for about 6 weeks now, and find myself absolutely loving it.<br />

I love the ease of it, the convenience and the freedom it gives.<br />
<br />
I never thought I would say it, but I love having it.<br />

<br />
<br />
Now that we are teaching 3 days a week at the college, I figured out what it would have cost us in taxis to go back and forth each day and Luke and I separately since our classes aren't always at the same time.<br />
<br />
We go back and forth 18 times to the area where the church is and where the college is in a week. It's anywhere from $2-$3 to take a taxi one way. Luke goes to his art school for our visa twice a week and that would cost $10 there and back easily. So not including grocery trip, post office, visiting friends, or just going out to eat, we are already at $56-$74 a week depending on who our taxi driver is and what price they give.<br />
<br />
So having these vehicles has been a huge blessing and will quickly pay for themselves.<br />
<br />
But it's not without the downside....This was from one drive from my house to my friends and back. It took just over an hour of driving, and my skirt was clean when I left. Now you know why I wear the face mask!<br />

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I remember growing up</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">,</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> being in church,
attending Vacation Bible School or even just Sunday school. We would have
visitor contests all the time, which our family would undoubtedly lose because
all of our friends were in church--this one or another one. As I grew older and
my kids arrived in the same situation I began thinking about what was wrong
with this picture.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I think we try to separate ourselves from the "world"
because it is evil and scary, but the truth is we are actually isolating
ourselves and our children. God wants us to "come apart and be ye
separate," but he still has us in the world to make a difference.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">I think we need to find ways to be involved in the community to
make new friends and meet interesting different people. We need to learn how to
communicate and interact with people that are different than we are, people
that believe differently than we do, and people that think differently than we
do. Now that we live in a country where people are either Hindu or Buddhist we
have no choice but to make friends with them if we want to reach them.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYZu4Eozd1Cdcm83HAAsjEgSAFuBni8n6F5MuRw09SQ4Ft4cp-5UFhMcc-Len1rq-9nflYLGYyKmrtD_pncZ82htcywYRf4VtMYVegHbWYH874MZ2NkzXIiuFmNbC-25OyojPuzeQpiQ8/s1600/0a94be54af8a5c6e1dbf5aa8408db25a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYZu4Eozd1Cdcm83HAAsjEgSAFuBni8n6F5MuRw09SQ4Ft4cp-5UFhMcc-Len1rq-9nflYLGYyKmrtD_pncZ82htcywYRf4VtMYVegHbWYH874MZ2NkzXIiuFmNbC-25OyojPuzeQpiQ8/s1600/0a94be54af8a5c6e1dbf5aa8408db25a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Have you ever heard this question, "If you home-school your
child, how will they ever learn to socialize with other kids?" While this
statement is usually laughed at by home-schoolers all around</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">,</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> (I was home schooled my entire life.) it isn't entirely false.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If we keep our kids so sheltered from the real world, how will
they ever learn to interact with people that are different than we are. We, as
adults, have a difficult time with that, how can we expect our kids not to
stare and ask rude questions </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">of
</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">people at the grocery store
if they never see us interacting with someone who is different than us. They
learn how to treat people by watching us. And don't think they aren't
watching--my 1.5 year old found a white plastic crochet needle and with a great
big smile stuck it in her ear just like Daddy cleaning his with a Q-tip. They
see everything.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Another </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">thing</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> to think about is this. If you never meet
anyone outside of your church and build a relationship with them, how will you
ever fulfill the great commission in your own neighborhood? If you never talk
to your neighbor because they have a tattoo or because "you have nothing in
common," how will they ever have a chance to hear about Jesus</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">?</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">While finding people and randomly asking, "If you died today
where would you spend eternity?" has worked, it is not the norm. Most
people are saved because they saw a difference in someone else's life and
started asking questions. It's through building relationships that we see
people's lives changed. But how can we do this if we don't get out into </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">our</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> community and meet people.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">So what are some ways we can do that?<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Here in Nepal, people just go outside and sit and chat. They sit outside and drink tea and watch the world go by. One of the best things we can do is go sit next to them. Let the kids play in the street, while we sit and chat with the shop keeper. It's not easy to make time to "do nothing". But you have to remember that although these things are seemingly meaningless in the big picture of life or in light of eternity, the truth is this is how we show that we care and build relationships--simply doing what our neighbors do.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">1. Join a secular sports team. But don't just drop off your kids.
Doing that is like throwing them into the deep end. They need to see you
interacting to know how to interact themselves. If you are around</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">,</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> you can supervise to make sure nothing gets out of hand, </span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">and</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> you are showing your kids how to talk to people, how to be kind,
how to be friendly to someone who is different than you are.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">2. Join a 4-H club.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">3. Find a group of moms that meet at the playground.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">4. Story-hour at the library<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">5. Red-hat society<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">6. Community Theater<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">7. Join a gym<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">8. Play on an adult sports team<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The key is finding something that meets regularly so you can build
relationships with people on common ground. It gives you something to talk
about and a reason to be there with them. Then friendships can happen naturally,
and you will get a chance to eventually share the gospel or invite them to your
church.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">It's time we stop hiding from this world and get out in it. A
light is only helpful if it stands in the dark.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

I don't have any clue why. I have read about it in several places, but no one really has a reason, but it has happened to a lot of people. So I guess you'll have to use your imagination.<br />

<div style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have four children, the oldest of which is almost nine years old. For the last eight and half years I have put a lot of stress on my self. I always thought that kids should be perfect. If they weren't perfect then the parents must be doing something wrong. They must be inconsistent in their discipline, lacking character themselves, or just plain lazy. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.fmaa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13092049_913540668767729_144899159946921785_n.jpg?oh=9d687bbf05a7f7d7b324dc5a3b068097&oe=57DF0977" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://scontent.fmaa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13092049_913540668767729_144899159946921785_n.jpg?oh=9d687bbf05a7f7d7b324dc5a3b068097&oe=57DF0977" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every time one of my kids would disobey, especially around other people, I would feel this horrendous guilt, inadequacy; it made me really dislike my children and dislike being around other people because I just "knew" that everyone was looking down on me. I thought that they thought I was being a horrible parent when my kids would disobey or do something foolish. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It were as if every time I left my house I felt like we were on stage performing a play and everyone had to do everything just right, act perfectly, and always say the right thing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then this year I was studying the book of Ephesians when I realized something so academic, so basic. I am a sinner AND so are my kids. I was saved years ago, and had the realization that I was a sinner, but I had in word said my kids were sinners too. I knew that, but I sure didn't act like it. I expected perfection from them. When I realized that my kids were sinners and that is WHY they are not perfect all of the time it suddenly made sense and lifted a burden off my shoulders that should not have been there in the first place. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #fdfeff; color: #001320; font-family: Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #073763;"><span style="background-color: #fdfeff; font-family: Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;">"For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we </span><i style="background-color: #fdfeff; font-family: Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;">are</i><span style="background-color: #fdfeff; font-family: Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 20px; text-align: justify;"> dust. "</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #fdfeff; font-family: Verdana, Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;"><span style="color: #073763;">Psalm 103:14</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: #fdfeff; color: #552200; font-family: Verdana, Arimo, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; text-align: center;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes, we should all train our children and teach them to obey the rules, teach them what "no" means, and what "stop" means, but kids are sinners, and on top of that they are kids. Kids are not mature, they don't know how to react correctly in all situations, they don't always share, they don't always have good manners, they like to run and play and make noise. That is part of being a kid. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When I stopped expecting my kids to be "perfect" all the time and allowed for some grace and forgiveness in my life things really changed for me. I enjoy being with my kids and being around other people. I still struggle with having the right reaction when my child does something they shouldn't and other people are watching. I fight the thoughts "What are they thinking?" or "What do they think I should do right now?" I struggle deeply with what people think of me, and that is wrong. I should be doing what God wants, what the Bible says, and what my husband thinks is right. We must all remember not to put other people's expectations, real or imagined, in front of what God expects from us.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent.fmaa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13076901_913541428767653_5933989360318024879_n.jpg?oh=aa172967ad1bf38218cf3f4d8b7e17a0&oe=57DFAE85" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://scontent.fmaa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/13076901_913541428767653_5933989360318024879_n.jpg?oh=aa172967ad1bf38218cf3f4d8b7e17a0&oe=57DFAE85" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have one of "those" kids. You know, the one that always finds something to break, the one that likes to test the limits, is stubborn to no end, and likes to take things from other kids, and whack someone when he doesn't get his way. I think there is probably at least one in every family. He is the one in a family that you roll your eyes at, behind the back of course, when he comes in to your house or when you spot him on the play ground. He is the one the mother struggles with the most--thoughts of failure, confusion, always questioning how they are parenting him, doubt. I know, because I have one. Not a week goes by that I don't question everything I know in parenting. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Part of the hard part is other people's reaction to that kid. Even though you think you secretly despise this kid when you see him, he probably knows it and so does the mom or dad. It is very discouraging. I beg you to fight those feelings. Smile widely when they walk in the door, greet them, and talk specifically to the child. Pray and ask God to help you love them even when they are unlovely. They too are sinners and are in need of you to show them God's grace through your actions. The mom and dad need your encouragement to keep trucking on and not to quit. They don't need advice, unless they ask for it specifically. They need your prayers and love. They need to feel like when they visit you that you enjoy them being there and not just looking forward to them leaving. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have a few people like this in my life and I enjoy being with them soooo much. When I leave I feel refreshed and ready to face the next obstacles in front of me. It is like a water hole in the desert. If you find yourself on either end of this--I have been on both sides--the parent of the stubborn child or the friend of the parent of the stubborn child, remember that we are all in need of some grace in our lives. We are ALL sinners, and no one is perfect. Try to be THAT family that loves everyone no matter what they are going through, be that watering hole for the tired parents, be the parents that remember their kids are sinners--don't expect perfection, but slowly work towards your realistic expectations.</div>

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Every day I wake up in the middle of Nepal and there are things I wish everyone back home knew about this place. It's hard to even experience it all when you come and visit for just a few days.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/12036845_801883849933412_6698220393484154960_n.jpg?oh=271b1cb4ef97c6e9cc9505a981231172&oe=56893D4F" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/12036845_801883849933412_6698220393484154960_n.jpg?oh=271b1cb4ef97c6e9cc9505a981231172&oe=56893D4F" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I absolutely love this place. I feel like I have a purpose. Each day I have something special to do and be. I am here and love that I have a mission, something beyond waking up, eating, cleaning, playing with the kids, eating, cleaning, family time, eating, and sleeping! I get to be part of something bigger and it really fulfills me as the person God has created me to be!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So Nepal--</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. I love the food. We eat dhal bhat at least 6 days a week for lunch. I love it. It is rice, lentil soup, and vegetables. It doesn't get old. It is delicious, and I happily eat it every day and look forward to it. We took a week off and had a "staycation". I told the kids if they helped me around the house so I wouldn't have so much work to do I wouldn't make any dhal bhat for a whole week. They were ecstatic about that and gladly helped every day, but I missed the dhal bhat! It makes me hungry just thinking about it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/11836729_779195312202266_8007563535420361527_n.jpg?oh=dd515671b9b743896be99637d74d97eb&oe=564544B7" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/11836729_779195312202266_8007563535420361527_n.jpg?oh=dd515671b9b743896be99637d74d97eb&oe=564544B7" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. I love how friendly everyone is. Some people get annoyed by people constantly looking at you and staring. But I personally love striking up conversations with people and talking about the surroundings and getting to practice the language I am learning. People absolutely love it when you take time to talk with them. I love seeing the people smile as they watch us and hear us talk to our children. It is just nice to be around people that enjoy being around you, even if it is just to laugh at the crazy American.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/10647019_10206465120057149_8911906199500999840_n.jpg?oh=e16e9fc56676035cae18d42465de3a64&oe=56B4DC01" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3. I love being close enough to everything to walk everywhere. We are in the midst of a huge gas shortage and most of our friends have no petrol for their vehicles and are forced to walk everywhere or be stranded, but we are used to it. I can walk 5 minutes and buy everything I need for day-to-day needs. I love walking too because it helps me get to know even more people and get a chance to talk with them.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
4. I love how everyone loves my husband. My husband is naturally goofy. He says goofy things just to make people laugh. I love how he walks down the road and can easily joke with the taxi drivers about taking us across town for $1 and they agree to it, already knowing that he is joking. It makes me feel safe that the people around us like us and know us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/12088118_810742465714217_2994995014675479007_n.jpg?oh=998d6df3c955e1ccb524073d3ad90a6b&oe=56B545B8" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5. I love how cheap fresh vegetables are here. We can buy a pound of tomatoes for 25 cents, sometimes even less. We can buy pretty much every vegetable that we were used to eating in the States here for a fraction of the price. Potatoes 30 cents a pound, broccoli mid-season 50 cents a pound, onions 30 cents a pound, and the list goes on. We eat roughly 15 pounds of fresh veggies every single week. It makes me feel good to be able to fix healthy things for my family!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
6. Rice cookers! How did I ever live without one? During this gas shortage I have been learning new ways to conserve gas as much as possible. I have learned that our rice cooker can be used just like a pot on the stove. I have learned how to cook basically everything in it. Tonight I made shepherd's pie for dinner and I did it all in the rice cooker! It takes a little forethought to make sure you have enough electricity (today our's turns off at 6pm), and you have to plan it out just like cooking on the stove with only one pot, but everything is doable and totally takes off the stress for </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
when we do run out of gas!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="http://www.gourmet.com/images/food/2009/08/fo-rice-cookers-608.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
7. I don't like coffee, but my husband wants everyone to know that we have the most amazing coffee in the whole world located here in Nepal. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="http://g03.s.alicdn.com/kf/UT8cKQBXd0XXXagOFbX8/Buddha-Organic-Coffee-100-Organic-Nepal-High.jpg" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
8. Riding in a vehicle can be crazy at times. In America you only take as many people as you have seats for. Here you stuff as many people in as possible. Especially nowadays with only a few vehicles on the road. We road in a vehicle that normally seats 12. We crammed 19 people in there and adults sitting on each other's laps. And the funny thing is no one here cares much about personal space. If there is an inch of room they gladly scoot over so that other people can ride as well.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/12074842_1083781594987966_1805181185995747764_n.jpg?oh=471c7f85394ec887f5a38e48f01aa480&oe=56C3ED89" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
9. Here in Nepal a guy can get a haircut and a massage for about $2. My husband loves going to get his haircut and enjoys the back/head massage the barber gives. They even massage your eyelids! Now that is a little weird!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
10. I love that even though we are in a 3rd world country, we can still get some good American food here once in a while. We have a good Woodfire Pizza Cafe, a place to get a beef burger, and a KFC that has good soft serve ice cream. It sure does help to have something taste like America every now and then. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Last weekend my husband asked me if I would like to go on a village trip. Unbeknownst to him I had been praying about the possibilities of doing this. In my mind I was thinking some grand hike with only what we could fit in our back packs and scavenging for food, well not that bad, but you get the idea--sleeping on the ground, maybe a tent, cooking over a fire.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
THANKFULLY, that is not what God had in mind for us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xlf1/v/t1.0-9/11953065_785949511526846_6811612059629331763_n.jpg?oh=1a9a0535ad546cd8b3ebecf87353aaab&oe=5668F684" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This was supposed to be an easy trip. A 3 hour bus ride on nice roads, stay the night in a hotel, and then take a 30 minute bus ride up to the village. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
In Nepal nothing is done on time or in the time range you are given--usually. so I was planning for a 7 hour bus ride and a 3 hour truck ride.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We got up at 5:30am on Friday morning and finished getting ready. I wasn't sure what to pack and I didn't want to bring everything. I kept reminding myself we would only be gone for 1 night. We wound up with a change of clothes for everyone, and three for Emily, two for Jason because he was going to be baptized, disposable diapers--because I didn't want to carry around our cloth ones, 2 small blankets in case someone had to sleep on the floor, a flannel sheet just in case, one towel to share, a small pillow, a teddy bear for Abby's pillow, toiletries--including toilet paper, and umbrellas. This came out to 2 small/medium sized duffle bags and 3 back packs. On top of that we had school supplies, Bibles, and backpacks for about 30 people. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We finally made it out of the house at 7am. Thankfully, I made banana bread the day before so we brought that for breakfast. We took a taxi to the bus stand and met up with our Tamang friend whose village we were going to. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfl1/v/t1.0-9/11960155_785949641526833_3972176679190495717_n.jpg?oh=362461055b4214ac3089ba9ef7fa5d49&oe=5638B475" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There was no one on the bus so they had us sit wherever we wanted. At first glance this is awesome! But because of that we had to sit on the side of the road for an hour waiting for more passengers--but it's okay I had planned for a 7 hour ride. I sat on the side of the bus next to the door because it had a lot of leg room. I had Emily in my carrier, which I don't know what I would do without! Had I known the driver was going to keep the door open the entire time I might have moved, but thankfully Emily did great in the pouch the whole time! I fed her at the first stop and she went right back in and slept most of the time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/11890920_785949534860177_2226652488284272771_n.jpg?oh=9e792b33621b2bf2f48e19716f6ffb28&oe=567C2180" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We arrived to Dhading 4 hours after we left; I was impressed at how close to the time we were supposed to arrive that we actually arrived.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11951982_785949601526837_6941352855240503629_n.jpg?oh=ab92e70916410e3044fc579183ba8247&oe=56783707&__gda__=1451403373_0bed5e53fdaba2563659364adfb92d0d" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We found our hotel room, again I was pleasantly surprised. We had a small room, but there was a queen size bed and a single bed, a tv, a bathroom--with a normal toilet, and an AIR CONDITIONER, and a fan that went around like a hurricane--It was amazing and very comfortable. After being in the room for a while we realized we had some little visitors--thankfully not roaches, only tiny ants. So no one slept on the floor. The boys had the single bed, and Luke, Emily, Abby, and I all slept in the queen size bed. It actually wasn't that bad! If it weren't for the AC it would have been quite uncomfortable, but thankfully the Lord had given us a little special blessing.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/l/t1.0-9/11898558_785934444861686_1821075147627932443_n.jpg?oh=e948883128e248e2731601865f018487&oe=567250D7" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The next morning we got up early thinking the pastor was coming at 6am and we were leaving then. But by 7:30 he still hadn't shown up. Once he got there we took off in a big truck. This truck was humongous. I got to sit in the front and the seat was head high to me and I am 5 ft. 9in. We drove to a nearby shop and wouldn't you know what we pull up beside?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11904057_785934361528361_1123693931322060133_n.jpg?oh=9fef5d1162bdb4bbb083f4ee930255db&oe=56708F1B" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Yes, that is a goat without a head, and yes that man is touching the unattached goat head!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpl1/v/t1.0-9/11952031_785934208195043_2401288909780558575_n.jpg?oh=76e37f8749add7dca8684e6fd103510e&oe=5667962F" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let's just say my kids got a good lesson in anatomy! My husband kept saying, "It's okay, their cousins live on a farm and do this all this time. They have to learn some time." They dissected this goat in front of the kids. Thankfully it was already dead by the time we arrived. 5 minutes earlier and we would have witnessed the decapitation!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11902310_785933738195090_2961232631070909520_n.jpg?oh=31d7b9b2386de3f6f1221672a8ab47e8&oe=56390FEF&__gda__=1451012966_3819cfb95db9f541b15f03fab9e48cf6" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We took off up the road, thankfully I had a chance to feed Emily before we left. The 30 minute drive turned in to 2 hours of bouncing and sliding all over the mountain in the mud. I have to admit I was a little afraid of going over the edge and Abby was really scared at times. But we did well.</div>

<b>There were so many people standing around the two trucks just staring at the giant hole in the road and no place to go. Everyone was just looking around. The people from the village we went to visit.<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We arrived at the village and had a short walk to the village itself. It is monsoon so everything is slippery. Over the course of the day I slipped and fell three times and hurt my ankle--we will call those war wounds. :) Thankfully the kids didn't get hurt. I used to go camping all the time and was used to uneasy grounds, but I must be getting soft! Oh well. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Isn't this a dream house!</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The people were so nice to us and extremely grateful. We had a quip trip to the squatty potty, which had recently been scrubbed clean. Cleaner than a lot of toilets I have seen, and then we headed to the church building.</div>

You can see that one wall has fallen down and there are a lot of cracks everywhere. But we filed in and sat on the ground. It would cost approximately $10,000 to rebuild this one room church building.<br />

We sang together in Nepali and then they asked Luke to speak. So he gave an impromptu message and even did about half of it in Nepali. He did awesome, especially for not preparing ahead of time. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Afterwards they fed us a delicious lunch and we headed over to the baptism area. It was a water reservoir for the rice fields. It had a beautiful view. 21 Tamang people were baptized that day, mostly adults.<br />

There was an older lady you could tell was quite scared. She got in the water and when she went to be baptized she went down in the water but came up just a tad short for getting her whole head under the water, just the tip top of their head stuck out. But she jumped up and was climbing the ladder to get out. While she was scrambling out the the pastor threw water on the top of her head to make sure she was fully immersed. I feel for her, when I was baptized a picture revealed later that my foot came up out of the water during my baptism, so I know how she feels. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These people still have "outhouses" and wash only with a bucket of water. Can you imagine the fear they must have of getting their whole bodies in the water including their head? But they were tough and you could see the love for the Lord they have. It was a wonderful time.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Our son Jason was saved almost 2 years ago, and for the last year has been asking about baptism. We wanted to make sure he clearly understood what he was doing so we have been waiting. Well we felt this would be a perfect time for him to be baptized so he made number 22 that day with his baptism. What a wonderful experience.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The trip down was a little easier than the trip up. We got back to town just in time to get the last bus back to Kathmandu. We found out that there was going to be a bhanda (protest) the next two days and if we didn't make that bus we would be stuck there until it was over. Apparently everyone had the same thoughts.We paid for our tickets so we could have a seat on the bus, but that really only includes the seat itself and maybe 6 inches of air above the seat. Everything else is fair game for others. There were people squished in the middle aisle and some were hanging off the side of the bus. One lady was sitting on my arm rest and I had to lean sideways just so my head wouldn't be in her back. It was a long trip, but God helped us through it. I think we stopped literally every 5-10 minutes to pick up more people or let people off. We made it just to the outskirts of KTM, still a good hour from the buses destination which was still 30 minutes from our home. It took us 4.5 hours just to get there. At the first taxi stand we got out and made our way home skipping the last hour of the bus ride--it was well worth the extra money in the taxi fare.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All-in-all it was a great trip and I am happy to have met those wonderful people, and had the experience of a "village trip", even if it wasn't as adventurous as I first imagined, it was just enough for us!</div>

About a year ago we bought a pizza seasoning to go on top of our pizzas. It was called, "Pizza Seasoning", imagine that! I didn't really know what was in it. But we ran out recently. So I decided to experiment on my own.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-mrs1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11914110_782336255221505_3576211791795969424_n.jpg?oh=7e1ffcbad17af2f941ca512946feebe4&oe=567BC053" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Besides the blurry picture, it looks yummy doesn't it?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xft1/v/t1.0-9/11889418_782336361888161_2777476897824914872_n.jpg?oh=6d98c7759fdd9c85b1f789c079b5ec89&oe=567E741F&__gda__=1450306453_ed1e3dc13af81b1c0b0c78fba3453cef" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, here is what we used.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
3 Tbsp of oregano</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 tsp. basil</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 tsp. garlic powder </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/2 tsp. salt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1/4 tsp. chili flakes (use as much or as little as you like of this)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/11880400_782336338554830_5594616893917753569_n.jpg?oh=025536d7d01d7b51f013241f93dda79d&oe=563BEFD2&__gda__=1447592073_de8502d16160a90ee67310af10a6e28a" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Mix it all together</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11891107_782336318554832_3522967361240380517_n.jpg?oh=0e2d25ae1d6f102c00a7134a6203cf2e&oe=567E3021&__gda__=1446510871_cbb383cecd0bca09c8b65ee50810850c" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Top your pizza before baking.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our kids said it was the best one of the batch! And yes, that is an upside-down casserole pan! Some times you just have to improvise!</div>

One hard thing to get used to here in Nepal is that there is no such thing as fast food. Every thing is cooked from scratch here. I love learning new things and cooking new food, but some times you just want something easy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We recently bought a deep freezer to help with this problem. So I have been doing my best to fill it up with quick things--still made from scratch, but will be quick to make when they are needed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Project #1</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Frozen Pizza</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This turned out super easy. We don't eat pizza a lot because cheese is expensive and we bring our pepperoni from America, but I figured if I'm making some for dinner I should double the recipe and make some to freeze.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-mrs1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpt1/v/t1.0-9/11137098_782335878554876_3386784417026081829_n.jpg?oh=754179a2ed3697a23bfc5f53e2315880&oe=563EF743" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Still haven't succeeded in teaching him to "not" eat like a dog, but at least he enjoyed it!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First thing's first</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1. Find a cute helper, even is she does sneak pepperoni when you aren't looking.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-mrs1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11058522_782336428554821_3341988547709293454_n.jpg?oh=39f3d7345d67b9185141675856bbc2c0&oe=564733BD" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2. Make your dough.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the recipe I used and it is by far my favorite so far for homemade pizza. I doubled the recipe for this.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Pizza Crust</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
5 cups of flour</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Tbsp. sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Tbsp. salt</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 Tbsp. Yeast</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil ( I only have sunflower oil)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
1 3/4 c. water</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Knead this all together. The dough will be sticky, but you also don't want it to stick to your hands or the counter, so keep adding flour as needed. I only added 9 cups (remember I doubled), just to make sure I didn't have too much flour, but then ended up using almost 12 cups of flour.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let it rise in a warm place for 2 hours. Divide into 2 balls if you didn't double the recipe, divide into 4 balls if you did. Let them rest for about 15 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Roll out dough to the size of your pizza pan or cookie sheet (pizza doesn't really have to be round to taste good.) Now remember, you will be freezing some of these so don't use a pizza pan that's bigger than your freezer!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bake your crust for about 5 minutes at 425 degrees. Just till the outside is starting to get hard, but not turning any color.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11891239_782336451888152_1522063817180591620_n.jpg?oh=952bf0c6071a9d227cba884b1d1dcd5c&oe=5644BF4F&__gda__=1451092422_e63caca994217d2dff3f3c554b058a9b" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once it cools completely, top it with your favorite toppings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11846699_782336418554822_2780966623911941880_n.jpg?oh=e76f09b08a8c3ec9929b16a40cb3663e&oe=5678FC11&__gda__=1450538875_817bfaf97707e260349946e52c903d66" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Place your pizzas on the pan (or cardboard cut to the right size ) in your freezer for about 3 hours. Once they harden then you will wrap them in Saran wrap and tin foil.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Now it's ready to freeze until you need it in a hurry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did this last week, and we ate some for dinner. Everyone loved it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Even Emily wanted a piece!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So it has been frozen for almost a week now. Today our plans changed and last minute I didn't have anything ready for lunch so we pulled out a pizza. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I heated the oven to 425 degrees and baked the pizza straight from the freezer without thawing. In 15 minutes it had a beautiful color and was nice and crispy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We even had some visitors join us!</div>

I am learning to cook some Nepali food that we eat every day! Each day we have dhal bhat, which is rice and lentils and then a vegetable on the side. Here is the recipe for the vegetable for today. I have a pressure cooker to make mine with. If you use canned beans and cook your potatoes so they are soft ahead of time you could do the same recipe without a pressure cooker in about the same time.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This recipe comes from Sita!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Ingredients you will need</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/11870909_779182682203529_5971191934871351106_n.jpg?oh=2c02a9f1acbd29bd3aa9073054e0d43f&oe=56424ADB" width="400" /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Everglades seasoning (optional--or your favorite mixed seasoning)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11060456_779182612203536_8478956168181317396_n.jpg?oh=c00ea3d60ea7296c67c97ad9cb6f1154&oe=563559AB" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chop the garlic and ginger together and chop your onions up.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Throw in the onions. When they start to brown slightly throw in the ginger garlic mix.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Let them sizzle for about 2 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add the beans you soaked over night. Stir</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chop your potatoes to this size, while the beans are cooking.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11846694_779182538870210_5101250370147550108_n.jpg?oh=8f5f4d35fbd06fa5231c95c7f907f603&oe=5640313F" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add seasonings--turmeric, cumin, and chili pepper</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t1.0-9/11694129_779182492203548_2166016325996069594_n.jpg?oh=b593591cf0830bd08001835aba694017&oe=5683DC02" width="300" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add potatoes and salt and all purpose seasoning.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/11822401_779182452203552_7606409767273761409_n.jpg?oh=4d1722ec6e5c87324910dce0bb1836cf&oe=567E54C6&__gda__=1447446512_f41f960da44ff7c9ace76d6d2c6ead12" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add 2 small tomatoes, mine were just slightly bigger than cherry tomatoes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11826002_779182438870220_8600731139033349670_n.jpg?oh=6a25d2464c377982456e1eab1cad42f9&oe=5650E0A1" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Add about 1.5 cups of water, and stir.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11825728_779182405536890_9037140437476534793_n.jpg?oh=cb4e0083db9cb4d997befbf9556a47aa&oe=563F7254" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Put the lid on and cook for one whistle if using the pressure cooker. Turn the heat off and let it sit until all the pressure is released.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
If using canned beans and a regular pot, I would boil your potatoes just until they start to get soft then add them in and cook this mixture for about 5-10 minutes. You could also just cut your potatoes smaller and cook them in this mixture until the potatoes are soft. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I would also only add 1 cup of water.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/11836729_779195312202266_8007563535420361527_n.jpg?oh=dd515671b9b743896be99637d74d97eb&oe=564544B7" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We have quite a bit leftover after lunch so I am going to make it in to a soup by adding water and then serving it over rice for dinner. I may also add some chicken to it. It is so delicious!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-cdg2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11813253_779195288868935_2398915587339683512_n.jpg?oh=40c9e013199e3a53a5f756cba93e028b&oe=5680C6D2" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;"><b>Homemade Sour Cream</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've made sour cream before but I didn't really like it. It came out like thick milk and just didn't taste like anything but sour milk. So I researched it a little more and found out it is super simple, it just takes a little planning ahead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://scontent-mrs1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11825030_778736735581457_5033232224098591637_n.jpg?oh=8cd0407f3ed8c97c56804c07f4881771&oe=56394DBE" width="400" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Things you'll need:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Glass jar with lid</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
vinegar</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
cream </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(you can use half and half, light or whipping)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The measurements do not have to be precise it's that easy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used about 1 cup of cream and added it to that jar. Then I added about 1/4 cup of vinegar. I put the lid on and shook it real well and let it sit on the counter for about 24 hours. Then I stuck it in the refrigerator. I didn't need it for about 3 days, but you could use it immediately after the 24 hours if you wanted, but if you aren't going to cook with it, it just tastes better cold.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what it looks like about a week later! Light, fluffy, and yummy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="300" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/11825566_778736715581459_3375365596048380384_n.jpg?oh=16dde8b5d8265785b48e0d0d913f0c30&oe=564D7C1A&__gda__=1451431724_82922097c9586724d81914f146eea4c2" width="400" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We used it to put on taco salad and tonight I'm going to make beef stroganoff with it. We really really like it! This is definitely worth trying.</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We left the States once again and are back in Nepal. We arrived here a little over 3 weeks ago. I was quite nervous coming back, not sure what it was going to be like or how the kids were going to react. But surprisingly everything seem relatively normal. You can still see cracks in some buildings here and there, and downed walls, and people living in tents, but overall things are back to normal.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week we put together our earthquake kit. After going through an earthquake and actually using our kit last time I realized some weak areas we had with it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11846599_778700925585038_5783127100237664952_n.jpg?oh=d62be85991ed0749eb2c8c59d64bfd23&oe=5680C15C" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" aria-busy="false" aria-describedby="fbPhotosSnowliftCaption" border="0" class="spotlight" height="400" src="https://scontent-sin1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11846599_778700925585038_5783127100237664952_n.jpg?oh=d62be85991ed0749eb2c8c59d64bfd23&oe=5680C15C" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is our revised list. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We decided to make 2 kits. One is a big kit and the other is called a "go bag". This is a small, backpack sized, grab it and go kind of bag. After the house had finished shaking I grabbed Emily, a blanket, my shoes and ran outside. We were there for several hours before we felt it was safe to move. I didn't have any food, water, or diapers during this time. So this "go bag" is to grab right before we run out the door next time. This will be just enough to tide us over until it is safe to return home for our other things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

Sorry to leave you hanging.After 3 days of sleeping on the ground I was plum wore out, but going on. The tremors died down some. We decided to take our "base camp" and move it to my house. We were still nervous about the house itself, more earthquakes and tremors, but really tired of where we were living.<br />
<br />
The night before 2 doctors came to our tent and told us to be super careful going out and that the risk for catching Swine flu was up to 80% in the area. We knew that our place with the bamboo was only getting worse and worse as far as cleanliness goes. <br />
<br />
We moved all of our stuff to our house and began to look at our house again. I don't have pictures of the cracks in the wall but they were very unnerving to everyone and we decided we couldn't stay there. We considered a new place but it had just as many cracks. I mentioned going back to the bamboo place and found out that something else "shady" happened. Some of those same men from before were trying to get one of our girls (about 20 years old) to come over to them and talk to them--calling to her just like our kids were doing when they were playing together. <br />
<br />
We didn't know what to do. One of the men found a place nearby that looked great but we only had two small tarps in my earthquake kit and it was going to rain. I looked all over the yard and tried to remember everything I could for making a water proof shelter but it just wasn't going to work with what we had.<br />
<br />
I went upstairs and packed our suitcase for America and knew I needed to restock and reorganize our things for wherever we decided to go next. I was very nervous being in our house and was working feverishly cleaning out the fridge so it wouldn't be horrible for Luke and also cleaning up the flour and sugar that was all over the ground from when the containers fell to the ground during the quake. I did a little cleaning and then saw two of our girls washing their hair outside and I realized how I longed for a shower, to be clean, and most of all to have clean hair. <br />
<br />
So another first for me was washing my hair outside. You need to people so you don't get soak and wet. I bent over forwards and the other girls washed it for me. It was great and felt so good. <br />
<br />
About that time Luke showed up with another family from our area. They came in and the husband looked at our walls and told us the house looked sound, but the walls downstairs and maybe upstairs would have to be replaced, but that it looked safe to him to be in there. Praise the Lord!! They then told us their house was great and invited us to stay with them. They had running water, electric, and internet! I was so glad!<br />
<br />
We headed out and I have to say I have never been so happy to have a hot shower and sleep in a bed in all my life!<br />
<br />
Our church people stayed at our house. It has now become a "new base camp". There are several others staying there as well including the house owners that live upstairs. They asked if it would be okay. They really wanted to leave their outside shelter but were to scared to sleep on the top floor. I don't blame them at all. We are praying for their family that they will be saved. They are Hyolmo Tibetan people. They are super sweet and love us to death. I talked to Luke yesterday. I actually got to Skype him for about a half hour. He is really exhausted. He's been working from sun up to 10 or 11 at night. Please pray for him that he will get the rest he needs so he can do the work he needs to do.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is Luke with two little boys and Flat Stanley (from a 1st grade class in America). He bought them some new shoes, some candy, and a face mask. Pray for Kushal and Vishal. They are staying at our house right now with their mom and the others from our church and 2 other friends.<br />

These 2 men are from a Hyolmo Tibetan remote village. There are only 4 houses left in their village. Luke was able to give them some tarps to bring back to the village. One of these men lost their wife just a few days ago. Please pray for them and their village. Before leaving Luke was able to give them a Tibetan gospel tract.</div>

While Luke was out and about helping people, surveying the land, looking for friends and making sure they were alive we were back at "base camp."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The kids were playing and having a good time. If you know Paul, you know he is great at making friends, but doesn't quite know how to use discretion. He just wants everyone to like him. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="" aria-busy="false" aria-describedby="fbPhotosSnowliftCaption" class="spotlight" height="240" src="https://scontent-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11113578_718194384969026_2375122573752058595_n.jpg?oh=071d71eaf891c1ae19b2610b1abc0c36&oe=55DB2874" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There were a group of young men there early 20's maybe and he made friends with them. At first it was no big deal, they weren't far from me so I didn't mind them talking until Paul came up and said, </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>"Hey mom, my friend asked me to take him to our house. Can I go with him and show him?"</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Instantly, red flags went up with me and the others with me. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why would a grown man want to go to my house in the middle of an earthquake? I can only think of one reason.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I told Paul he must never tell anyone where we live and tried to explain to him the dangers without necessarily scaring him, but I had to scare him so that he would understand that not all people are good and people do have bad intentions. And that we need to be super careful.<br />
<br />
That night a few minutes after we laid down to sleep a fight broke out between some of the men. They were both drunk. We have no idea what the reason was, but it was only a few feet away from us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
That night it rained something awful. Thankfully our blankets and things did not get all wet. The next morning my body was super tired. We were once again jolted awake by a tremor. It was about 4:30am. Emily woke up and wanted to stay awake for a while so I grabbed a chair and sat near the fire. There were a few men sitting there but I figured it was no big deal since Luke was only feet away.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After a few minutes they asked me a handful of normal questions and could tell I didn't know a ton of Nepali. So they started talking more freely. Although I can't speak a lot I do understand quite a bit. They started talking about "her husband" and "his money" and "their house". It made me very nervous, especially after what happened the day before with Paul.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also started thinking of what would happen when people started running out of water and food. Our new house does not have dogs for protection and the gate is always unlocked, plus our house isn't quite ready for occupants--especially kids.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We prayed and it was then we decided the best thing for us to do was for me and the kids to go back to the States so that Luke wouldn't have to worry about us. How easy it would be for someone to take one of the kids for ransom, rob us, or many other things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I am super excited about seeing my family, my 2 new nieces, and eating a Publix Roast Beef sub sandwich with all the toppings and a blizzard from Dairy Queen, but know I will be thinking of my friends back home who can't just "up and leave", but are everyday living this disaster. This will forever change their lives, way of thinking, and everything they know.<br />

What do you do when you can't find any tarps?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".z7.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xta1/v/t34.0-12/11122017_1147378988620885_1021467819_n.jpg?oh=7610decbbb68dd4e227b6258d26bb39d&oe=5548386C" width="320" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Buy tent material! I love my ingenuitave husband! Each one of those rolls will make about 200 tarps!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The man in the red jacket is a pastor from the area. These tarps will go to his village which was completely wiped out. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".z7.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/11180022_1147379291954188_1201314110_n.jpg?oh=926eea12ae03378e780d0086826508a7&oe=5548F0A1" width="320" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are some friends all apart of "base camp" at our house. These are tarps and supplies they were able to buy for some nearby villages.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".zd.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/11195496_1147378905287560_1658058381_n.jpg?oh=111ecf96b02179502996066b4f88eed9&oe=55495737" width="320" /> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Notice a small man in Luke's hand. A first grade class from Florida sent us "Flat Stanley", so he is helping with the Earthquake relief!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Luke is having the time of his life helping, planning, and living his dream.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

The Day After</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

All of us ladies and the kids stayed at "base camp shelter". The men went out in search of friends nearby and to check on people around. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We made a cooking place so we wouldn't have to cook over the fire any more. We brought over a gas tank and our friend brought his stove top.<br />

This lady is the owner of the place we stayed at for 3 days. She is really sweet. Her name is Nabina. Pray for her and her family to be saved and we can share with them the "good news."<br />

If you remember once a month we have a Kid's Camp which is kind of like a Vacation Bible School. We have had up to 140 kids there before. One of the schools that comes is the Tashi School. These kids are super sweet and well-behaved. Luke was able to go their with our friends and bring them some rice and tarps. Here are a few pics.<br />

The next morning we all woke up early. I think we all felt the same way--we survived the night and are so glad to be alive.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My stomach bug that was put on hold because of the earthquake came back strong that morning. I've experienced some firsts through all of this. I not only had to use a squatty potty for the first time, but also had to have a stomach bug and frequent trips--I have to say you get good at it quick. Again, I just want to say how thankful I am that I had an earthquake kit and that I stocked it well with toilet paper!</div>

This is not the exact one we used, but was just like this except really dark and the room was tiny--no room for error. If only you could have smelled it! blah!</div>

The tremors started to die down a little during the day time. That was nice. The kids started to play a little. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Luke went out to check on things around, some of our people's houses and to look for some of our friends to see how everyone was. Everyone made it back to our "camp" about 12:30pm and we sat down for lunch. Just a few minutes later the second earthquake hit. It was a 6.5 I think on the Richter scale. We ran out into the open. It was then that we noticed the covered soccer field next to us swaying drastically. We knew then we needed to use extreme caution even during the tremors and move out from under our bamboo shelter every time something came. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was after this second earthquake that Jason started to be overwhelmed with fear. It is so hard seeing your kids scared. I just held him and let him cry. </div>

For Luke things started around 9am. I was sick so I stayed home with Emily. Luke took the kids and headed down for our church service at 10am.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Can I stop right here?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I have to say one of the biggest blessings was that all this happened on a Saturday during our normal meeting time. When the quake hit we didn't have to wonder where everyone was. It is very difficult finding people. No one is in there homes and everyone is sleeping outside or where ever they can find some sort of shelter that won't fall on them if it hits again.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They had just started the Bible Study and Luke was speaking. The quake hit and they all dove for the ground. They pushed the kids under the bench. Luke started praying, everyone was praying out loud, scared the building would fall on them. Wikipedia says the quake lasted only 20 seconds, but definitely the longest 20 seconds we have ever experienced.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The second it was over they ran outside to an open field nearby. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Luke left the kids with our church people and ran to see if I was okay. That is when he took me to the field near our house. I'm on the blanket right in the middle. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This wasn't even 1/4 of the people that were around us.<br />
<br />

<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".ii.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/11195516_1146204828738301_113702630_n.jpg?oh=b21e4b969549a8e973dcda233c53e59d&oe=55482748" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was hard being away and apart from one another during all the aftershocks, but I knew we were in God's hands. I still cannot begin to describe how God answered my simple plea for help, "God give me peace". The amount he gave wasn't "just enough" but an overflow. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After 4 hours the tremors seemed to be somewhat spread out so they felt it was safe enough to bring the kids to my field so we could all be together. It was such a relief seeing my kids. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
During some of this time Luke and one man from our church went out to help in some of the nearby areas. They found some men who were on motorcycles as the quake hit and a wall had fallen on them. They didn't make it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They were able to buy some water and cups and pass it out to those around us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Soon we decided it wasn't safe to go back to the house for a while and that we were definitely sleeping outside. Luke went to our house and grabbed our earthquake survival kit (which I am so thankful I made), some more blankets and a handful of things.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After some walking we found a place close to our house that we could stay at. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".ii.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xft1/v/t34.0-12/11185853_1146204338738350_1507839434_n.jpg?oh=0338f8d0709c5b8499a8bce228e97b13&oe=554923F5" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These 2 spots were ours. We had 13 people with us 9 adults and our 4 kids.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".ii.0.0.1.1" height="240" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t34.0-12/11210237_1146204865404964_318430087_n.jpg?oh=81e48944e08b1f7d766de7bd40b25297&oe=55482EEC" width="320" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It had bamboo poles and a tin roof. Bamboo is actually very strong in an earthquake because it already has a lot of natural give to it. We were so thankful for the roof as it rained quite a bit while we were outside.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<img class="_4-od" data-reactid=".ii.0.0.1.1" height="320" src="https://scontent-mia.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t34.0-12/11186235_1146204918738292_260201281_n.jpg?oh=47a63a4e0480c86f7cd467c4d470b7b4&oe=55494CB5" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is how we slept for 3 nights. I am further back in the picture with the pink top. We had 9 adults and 4 kids sleeping on a queen size blanket and a twin size blanket turned sideways. I'm so glad we could all be together. It was a big comfort being surrounded by people that we loved and with people that loved us.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We had about a 4 hour break from tremors. We settled down to sleep and a big tremor came. Before people were in shock now people just had fear, every time one would come everyone would scream and yell "aiyo, aiyo" "it's coming, it's coming". That first night we had tremors every hour. The kids were terrified. One time one came Abby, she was sleeping next to me--but I couldn't grab her in time, she lunged into a stranger's arms next to us and wouldn't let go. He just held her and rocked her. Everyone was so jumpy. Luke stayed up all night with one of the other men from our church so he could grab us if needed. It was hard.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

At 10pm I stood up about to head for bed when I got a wave of nausea. By 11 I was puking my guts out. The night wore on with more of the same, when morning came it subsided for a little and then "changed directions." blah. I felt awful and just a trip to the bathroom which was only 10 steps made me very dizzy. About 11am I made my last trip. I changed out of my pj's, thankfully, and laid on the couch.<br />
<br />
Saturday's are our church day, but since I was sick I was home with Emily (3 months) and Luke had our kids about a 10 minute walk away at our "office/church", which is on the bottom level of a 3 story building.<br />
<br />
I was now laying on the couch watching a movie. At almost 12 the DVD layer turned off, my first thought was the power just went out. Sometimes as our electric goes from outside electricity to our battery back up this happens. Maybe 10 seconds later things started to shake violently. I was on the 2nd story of 3 in our house. I jumped up terrified and grabbed Emily. I was crying and praying out loud. I didn't know where to go. It really seems like this whole even took 10 minutes when really it was only seconds. I couldn't think of where to go, but I remember in our old house talking to the kids and saying if there was an earthquake they should lay down by the bunk bed in their room, so that is where I went.<br />
<br />
I tried to grab a mattress off their bed but couldn't with Emily and the shaking so I just grabbed the comforter. I lay on the floor staring at the giant wardrobe I just knew was going to fall on us, but I didn't know what to do so I prayed. I finally stopped repeating myself and prayed for peace, instantly, I looked down and saw Emily's face and she just looked at me completely "at peace" and smiled and I was filled with peace inside and began to calm.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, </i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>because he trusteth in thee." </i>Isaiah 26:3</div>
<br />
I'm not sure how long I was waiting and the shaking went on, but it seemed an eternity. The second the shaking was over I with Emily and the big blanket ran to the door, grabbed my shoes and took off down the stairs and outside. My neighbor who lives on the third floor with her 10 year old daughter were right behind me. I sat out in the yard on the ground.<br />
<br />
After an earthquake the aftershocks/ tremors come almost instantly. It reminded me of your belly gurgling before you get sick and just rumbling. I could feel the ground underneath me still "gurgling" about every 30 seconds it would do some gurgling. Having never been through this I thought for sure it was going to erupt into something big again but it didn't right away. The neighbor (landlady) was right behind me with her hand on my shoulder. It was such a comfort. I can't begin to describe how hard it was not having the rest of my family right there with me. I waited maybe 5 minutes outside. Then Luke came. He didn't have the kids with him, but said they were safe with our church family in a nearby field. We quickly ran out of our gate to a field nearby. Not the same as the kids, that one was in the wrong direction from our house and too far, too dangerous for us to go to.<br />
<br />
After I was settled in the field with Emily and our blanket Luke went back to stay with the kids. Tremors kept on coming. When you lay on the ground you can feel all of them. As they would come the people around would scream "aiyo, aiyo" which meant "it's coming." In the field I wasn't scared. There wasn't anything around to fall on us so it was comforting. I missed my kids, but I knew they were in good hands and we would be together soon.<br />

<br />
Saying goodbye is never easy. At the beginning of April my parents and brother came to visit. We had such a wonderful time together. But after two weeks it was time for the goodbye's. One of the Tibetan traditions is to say actually "hello" or "goodbye" with a khata--a scarf.<br />
<br />
This is a picture of our church family giving khata's to my family before they left.<br />

</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
Here in Nepal when a meal is served the Nepali people eat a lot of rice. They eat a lot of rice and a tiny bit of veggies with it. But my family likes to do the opposite. Lots of veggies and just a little bit of rice. So if a Nepali person were making this dish, the veggies would be less than half of what I am about to show you. But this is how we like it!<br />
<br />
This is how Chicken Fried Rice is made here. This fed our family--2 adults and 3 kiddos.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xat1/v/t1.0-9/11114058_726324227489375_8210981998954091304_n.jpg?oh=697c2538d99bd52ca8e55f122acdb731&oe=559F05A3" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xat1/v/t1.0-9/11114058_726324227489375_8210981998954091304_n.jpg?oh=697c2538d99bd52ca8e55f122acdb731&oe=559F05A3" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the finished product! Looks yummy doesn't it? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All fresh ingredients, what could be better than that?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the neatest things about this dish is you can use whatever veggies you have on hand. As much or as little as you like, so play around with it. This next list is just what I did this time--but every time the veggie amount changes to basically, whatever I feel like! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ingredients</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3-4 small potatoes</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
8 green beans</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 okra</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1 onion</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 cloves garlic</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
oil (I have sunflower oil, and I used about 3 Tbsp.)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 small tomatoes </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3 leaves of cabbage</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2 eggs</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
tumeric</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
salt or your favorite all purpose seasoning</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rice I used for this I actually made earlier that day and then we changed our plans completely, so it had been in the fridge for a few hours before using it. You can use leftover rice or make a new batch all together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So if you are starting from scratch go ahead and start cooking your rice the way you normally do. If it's just leftovers don't do anything to it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have found that the easiest way to do this meal is to do all of the prep before you start cooking. If you don't it cooks too fast and it's hard to keep up. So go ahead and chop up everything.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Go ahead and beat your eggs together and set it aside.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Start with a little oil, when it gets hot cook the onion. After a minute of onion cooking throw in the garlic. When you start to smell the garlic cooking throw in your potatoes and green beans.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The idea with the veggies is to throw them in at the appropriate time. Potatoes take the longest, then green beans about the same amount of time. okra and cabbage not long at all. So as you are cooking space the veggies apart by how long they take to cook. Hopefully that is clear as mud!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtp1/v/t1.0-9/10981998_726324380822693_155306528714825163_n.jpg?oh=bbb30a8761e775de26131f924e6a65e6&oe=55E2EE6E" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once this was starting to cook I remember I was supposed to be cooking chicken. So I started that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11034314_726324354156029_4907448828490780073_n.jpg?oh=7c2581f342580941d1bcb197b0991ee6&oe=55E13D6B" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It surprisingly worked out perfectly. I had already cut up the chicken into bit size pieces so it would cook quicker, and I think that helped.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okra, cabbage, tomatoes, and scrambled eggs all take about the same amount of time to cook, which isn't much. So when the potatoes and green beans were almost finished I threw in the other things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11193273_726324300822701_4045509983644822484_n.jpg?oh=c0adccf7b7a5eaedbbc73c3e3925cc28&oe=55A271A3&__gda__=1439703314_1d9e10a24d2811c308058c5df7006366" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I stirred it around until the eggs seemed done. I also added the tomatoes at this time, but forgot to take a picture. Sprinkle either salt or your favorite all purpose seasoning on the veggies. I like Everglades Seasoning!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/11188374_726324284156036_5451450181614955020_n.jpg?oh=5dc216cd9cbe946d8b41e38df1bbbe3b&oe=55A00D1C&__gda__=1436248740_b934db439df3bcdff37142febdd69b69" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Add some turmeric and your chicken, which should be cooked by now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now clear a small section in middle to add the rice. I add a little at a time, stir, add some more, stir. It mixes together easier that way and ensures you don't overflow anything.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xtf1/v/t1.0-9/10421521_726324257489372_6279269858057195790_n.jpg?oh=0c0ac54f1260187eeeadebb836a71186&oe=55DC3BB4" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="192" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10014582_726324240822707_8181003865113884979_n.jpg?oh=4a5a4d81aeecf1a8ca44b04f2f7e6475&oe=55D5A280&__gda__=1436597482_45fcd7664840cc2a18d8244d01df4d9c" width="320" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Keep stirring. If it seems dry add a little more oil or water if you'd prefer, you just don't want it to burn. When it seems heated thoroughly and mixed well it is finished. All of the white rice should have turned yellow because of the turmeric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Enjoy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

After buying bagels here and having them taste nothing like a real bagel, I set out to make my own. And it turns out they are very easy. If you aren't used to making bread, then you might have a different opinion, but if you are--this takes less time than bread--and tastes soooooooooo good!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made this recipe 3 times and all times it came out great. Today I doubled the recipe so the bagels would be bigger. So this "doubled" recipe makes 12 normal size bagels that you would buy at the store. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start with 2 cups of warm water--close to 110 degrees, add 2 T. of yeast. You need 1/3 cup of sugar for the recipe and from that I add just a little sugar to the yeast to proof it. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10268413_642799132508552_5319161641517437090_n.jpg?oh=d99ba22c2ff6921eec7ab6c3d6672808&oe=54DDBB86&__gda__=1427060239_a345170317271e825798c3276afed55d" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the yeast starts to bubble up then you can add the rest of the ingredients.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10647138_642799069175225_8487641049382100515_n.jpg?oh=3e56cc12698133dde131de4235a3c3ca&oe=551D4C88&__gda__=1423561729_37eb9617d250e51b468a890e0872be7b" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Start with 5.5 cups of flour and 2 teaspoons of salt. Add your yeast, water, sugar mixture and mix with your hand until it starts to come together. Once you don't have a lake of water in the middle any more. Dump 1/4 cup of flour on the counter and spread out then dump your dough and all ingredients on the floured counter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10675568_642799035841895_846266842989328711_n.jpg?oh=ea0397429bee13eb79b80d8e955d613a&oe=5517D6AD&__gda__=1423416548_09958654d5b111c775e50699db8bfe14" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Knead for about 10 minutes. (If you use up all of the flour that's on the counter then add more. I used 6 cups total for my bagels.)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
About halfway through kneading it will seem kind of like it's done--as far as getting smoother, but to me it felt gritty a little.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://scontent-a-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10434071_642798995841899_997662241012054416_n.jpg?oh=4c65fe3ef605bca89e4bde45f29d228e&oe=54DACBA4" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When it is finished it will have picked up almost all of the flour you have dumped on the counter, the dough will be slightly sticky or tacky, but won't stick to the counter or your hand any more and will be very smooth. When you push slightly on the side it will bounce back slowly.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://scontent-a-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10372771_642798952508570_3666789903813080201_n.jpg?oh=000215a4b21454c196ad26785eb7eb1a&oe=550E85A1" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Put this back in the bowl and cover with a towel and put in a warm place for about 35 minutes. It should about double in size. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/13675_642798915841907_581254704600442669_n.jpg?oh=11baa267968313a66d59b6b375cd4d67&oe=54D2FC34&__gda__=1423085164_79f57725d5bb1acfafcb6bf31d650d4d" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10362950_642798882508577_2309558023423822539_n.jpg?oh=e5915effbb88ec97570ee1ec64515065&oe=5517D7FC&__gda__=1426838422_a3377e9cd07240e230e1e3d5dc09427f" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next put a tiny bit of flour on the counter and then put dough on top. I just used my hands to spread it out flat. It was about 1 inch thick. I used a cup to cut out the bagels and got 12. I put them on my cutting board covered them with a towel and let them rise for about 20 minutes. They are supposed to double in size again, but mine did not.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/1522023_642798825841916_860680753451093245_n.jpg?oh=ebe51b34ccc28291e56ccd6130753d0c&oe=552035F4&__gda__=1423457654_bc6b3a97fa826facd83f3f541fc66925" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now get a largish pot and put some water in it--about 2 -3 inches deep and put a Tablespoon or 2 of oil in the water and bring it to a rolling boil. Then drop in the bagels. I could fit 4 at a time. I boiled on each side for about 45 seconds each. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-b-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/10491115_642798775841921_173100139444219217_n.jpg?oh=e1e451b2937c8fe2b5bd99f5c71d1034&oe=550AF783" width="240" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I pulled them out and laid them on a towel to dry slightly. One time I just stuck them on the pan and baked them but they stuck to the pan. So now I butter my pan and dry the bagels slightly and I haven't had problems. (Boiling them is what gives the outside the shiny appearance and the chewy texture!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img height="240" src="https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10690218_642798709175261_7218842170697680967_n.jpg?oh=59fa79b22e051ba9e8f9391906b49b48&oe=55105F8F&__gda__=1428040247_d609d945e1f722a69cacb314d5a2cb83" width="400" /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I baked them for about 15 minutes at about 375-I say about because my oven doesn't have temps on it and I just guess. It's a little hotter than I bake cookies at. When they are finished they will be slightly golden on the top and the bottom.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Bagels</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 cups of warm water</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 T. yeast</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1/3 cup of sugar</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2 teaspoons of salt</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5-6 cups of flour</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Warm water to close to 110 degrees, add yeast and tiny bit of sugar to proof yeast. When yeast starts to bubble, add all the sugar, salt, and 5 1/2 cups of flour. Mix together. I added another 1/2 cup of flour to get my dough so it wasn't sticky any more. Knead for about 10 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Let rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Flatten to about 1 inch thick and cut out bagels. (I don't do a hole in mine, why waste something that tastes so delicious!)<br />
<br />
Let rise for 20 more minutes--mine didn't double again in size, but the original recipe says it should.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Boil water about 2-3 inches deep with about 2 Tablespoons of oil in it. Drop bagels in and boil on each side 45 seconds.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

This past week, there was a local celebration for the 70th birthday of the Rinpoche pictured above. At all the entrances of our town, there were special welcome banners put up like the ones below. We are told that this particular Rinpoche is the powerful leader of one of the Tibetan Buddhist sects.<br />

Thousands of Tibetans attended to enjoy the music hosted by a nearby monastery!<br />

Some of the musicians were actually pretty good as you will hear below.<br />

This poor guy wore himself out which brought some laughs to many in the crowd! You have to give him credit though, he gave it all he had!<br />

<span style="font-size: 13px; text-align: center;">Three people from our church went to give out hundreds of pieces of literature. As a result, three visitors came to our service! One of the visitors is named Gawa, the monk pictured below. He is a Khampa Tibetan and really enjoyed the Bible teaching. He said this is the first time he has met anyone who could explain the teachings of Christianity! He wants to come again next week too! </span><br />

How many floors does this building have?</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<img height="266" src="http://www.storagestructuresinc.com/portfolio/images/IMG_4367_000.jpg" width="400" /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
In America we would say 4 floors. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
Here in Nepal they would also say 4 (I think) but they are labeled differently.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji5muVmzSP-h-ckrDVmT7idNuMxuCUuNolLLlVH8zGl3fQeyI-c3vIc6iuLFozlDQxwnyNNV0BfvdyUAX16JtGI-BUiyQpYJ9yFzvBn6DW6NoeFaS-VzXD1B6aCqTISy59J3oVfaXDXIY/s1600/blog.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji5muVmzSP-h-ckrDVmT7idNuMxuCUuNolLLlVH8zGl3fQeyI-c3vIc6iuLFozlDQxwnyNNV0BfvdyUAX16JtGI-BUiyQpYJ9yFzvBn6DW6NoeFaS-VzXD1B6aCqTISy59J3oVfaXDXIY/s1600/blog.png" height="201" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This really only presents a problem when someone is trying to tell you which floor they live on and you are trying to describe it cross-culturally. It gets confusing. There are times when I can't remember which was is American and which way is Nepali. In your mind you can easily understand it, but try getting caught off guard with the question and having just a second to think of the answer. It's not as easy as it might seem. Unless of course I see something like this. Elevator buttons.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img height="400" src="https://scontent-b-sin.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10686924_610760649045734_3358871601038224237_n.jpg?oh=6146281461d079219dc15b02ddbce57a&oe=54C7CB01" width="240" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This makes sense to me. It is like a number line. Notice the basement floors as -1 and -2. All of it makes sense, just takes some time to get used to it.</div>
<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
